The Gi Cheonghyeon starring in the Cheongsan Water commercial aired during the most popular drama lately, <Immortal Love>, causing an explosion of reactions online.
Fans shared clips of their favorite moments, and many felt butterflies by imagining themselves and Gi Cheonghyeon in the heart-fluttering moments they experienced in their own daily lives.
The ad proved beneficial for both Cheongsan Water, which targeted the younger demographic, and for Gi Cheonghyeon’s fans who had been starved of new content lately.
Watching the ad, Gi Cheonghyeon thought of that brother and sister.
Even in the full-length version longer than the TV spot, the siblings never took center stage.
Though they were shown arm-in-arm, the nature of the ad meant only Gi Cheonghyeon’s face remained in close-up, while the younger brother was barely visible at all—only their linked arms appeared briefly.
The same was true for his sister. Though her lines had increased slightly, only her back was shown throughout. Unless one watched as attentively as Gi Cheonghyeon, it was hard to even notice she was there.
He felt a slight pang of bitterness, but it couldn’t be helped. The ad itself was meant to promote Cheongsan Water, and Gi Cheonghyeon had to be shown the most.
Still, with that passion, she’d surely shine somewhere else. Having been told by the director beforehand when the ad would air, Gi Cheonghyeon entered his room, recalling his own face captured on the big screen.
[ Everything’s good, but I like Manager Gi’s version the best… hahahahaha. I felt the same way when I first started at the company, not knowing anything T_T. Maybe because I was a newbie, I didn’t really get assigned any tasks… Then the team leader across from me asked me to copy something, so I went to the printer. But I pressed the wrong button and paper just kept coming out T_T. In the end, the team leader came over, fixed it, and took the copies, but I just felt so worthless… No one said anything to me, but I felt so self-conscious… So I pretended to go to the bathroom and cried by the water cooler. Then at lunchtime, the assistant manager gave me a Vita 500 T_T. They said it’s okay because everyone makes mistakes, haha… Honestly, even though he looked like a potato, unlike our Cheonghyeon, I had a crush on that assistant manager for a while, damn it lololol. And I was so grateful for that Vita 500 that even now, when newbies make mistakes, I give them one too hehe. Ah, seeing that really brings back memories T_T. I thought they stole my story after seeing the ad content…]
└ T_T Seriously, if someone comforted you like that with Gi Cheonghyeon’s face, you’d start an office romance that very day.
└ LMAO @ the comment above — this is exactly why being nice gets you nowhere.
└ I’ve never even worked at an office, but I totally get it… I’d fall in love too ㅠㅠ.
[ Gi Cheonghyeon is seriously everyone’s crush material hahahaha. There’d be like a gazillion competitors besides me…]
└ The school senior part is seriously epic lol. Met in a liberal arts group project, fell head over heels, but he’s the type who’d have a long-term girlfriend…
└ The type who bumps into you by chance in front of the student cafeteria, says hi, and tries to ask you to eat together, only to find out he was supposed to have lunch with his girlfriend…
└ Senior, why do you only drink Cheongsan Water? My girlfriend likes this, hehe.
└ Screw it—Cheongsan Water boycott.
└ Hahahahahaha don’t get so invested lol. But senior… did your girlfriend really buy you that Cheongsan Water?
└ Huh? You drink Cheongsan Water too? I only drink this as well, hehe. So I was like, “Wow, we have so much in common!!” But then he told me this TMI that totally stabbed me in the heart… that his girlfriend always buys him this brand, so he grew to like it…
[ To the office-lunch fans above… isn’t Gi Cheonghyeon playing basketball way more epic?]
└ Yep. He goes to play basketball every lunch break, leaving his wristwatch with me lol. I’m so excited I wait for him to finish, and the kid next to me is all cocky because he’s holding Cheonghyeon’s gym shirt top.
└ F*** lol his body is insanely good, but he doesn’t rip his shirt off for no reason—yeah, only “anchovies” do that lol. Cheonghyeon just runs around in a plain white tee, which girls like even more. Then he lifts it a little, saying he’s wiping sweat, and you get a flash of his abs…
└ You crazy bastard, push it further.
└ He should go to the water fountain and dunk his head in the running water lol. Then he’d shake himself off like a dog and come back to class soaking wet, smelling like fabric softener amidst all the sweaty kids…
└ By 6th period it’s all dry, and he’s sitting by the back-row window; the gentle breeze rustles his hair… The shampoo scent wafting through those swaying strands gets etched into my brain forever… I catch that scent by chance at the supermarket with my mom and just start crying…
[ Gi Cheonghyeon, how many girls are you killing right now… On the school trip we’d all confess we actually like Gi Cheonghyeon and things would get awkward lol]
└ Guys, hold on. I can’t take this anymore. Just think of Cheonghyeon as a boy who stayed behind. Even the ads only show boys now.
└ Nah, even if I were a guy, I’d have had a massive crush on him lol. But he doesn’t even realize it’s love…
└ Like, what kind of guy is that pale and delicate? You gotta be wary at first lol. But then he talks to me, the total loser, and I’m so grateful I don’t know what to do… I finally got a girlfriend, but I kept talking about Gi Cheonghyeon and she dumped me…
└ Posting a question on Q&A… I had a wet dream and my classmate appeared. The problem is I go to an all-boys high school.
[Wait, weren’t we all just laughing at the ad together a minute ago? Why are you all like this? Why are you self-harming?]
└ This guy realized too late that Cheonghyeon had 50 million girlfriends and is now bawling.
└ F*** hahaha
“You called?”
“Sit.”
Professor Gi Mujin was no different than usual. His face remained as sharp as a pen nib, and the buttons on his shirt, fastened obsessively all the way to his neck, were exactly the same as when I first met him. He truly was an unchanging person.
Seoan looked at Professor Gi with apparent interest. It was surprising enough that this man, who normally cared about nothing but his research and papers, had called him specifically to speak.
But seeing him arrive and then hesitate, unable to speak, was something Seoan had never witnessed in his six years here. Seoan waited patiently for Professor Gi to speak first. But no matter how much he thought about it, he couldn’t guess why.
They weren’t collaborating on any research, and it wasn’t as if Professor Gi was suddenly offering him help now. As the silence dragged on, Professor Gi finally spoke.
“Are you still working on that report about my son?”
It was a question that made him doubt his own ears. What on earth was he talking about, bringing up something from years ago?
No—wasn’t this the first time Professor Gi had even mentioned Gi Cheonghyeon since that day?
“No.”
“Then do you still have that report from back then?”
“No, I don’t. I had them all disposed of since you never read them anyway.”
Professor Gi let out a low sigh. His fingers tapped slowly on the armrest, his expression deep in thought.
“May I ask what’s on your mind? I vaguely recall the contents of the reports written back then, but they were just summaries of articles I searched for, so they probably won’t be much help.”
The professor remained utterly silent. As the silence stretched on, Seoan was considering getting up when a startling remark came.
“If I told you my son seemed to become a different person overnight… would you think I’d gone mad too?”
At those words, Seoan abandoned all thoughts of leaving.
No—where on earth did he get this idea from seeing Gi Cheonghyeon?
Seoan was quite startled, but Professor Gi seemed oblivious and continued speaking. Whether he thought him mad or not, he appeared desperate to unburden himself to someone.
“I saw my son a few days ago. He was filming a commercial here.”
‘A commercial?’
“The school contacted me, and I gave my permission. But…”
After a long, hesitant pause, Professor Gi finally shook his head.
“Never mind. What am I even saying? His agency won’t be contacting me anymore. I’ll handle any future communications myself.”
With that, Professor Gi sank back into the sofa, closed his eyes, and seemed to sink deeper into it. He still looked troubled. Seoan watched Professor Gi for a while, then left the lab after saying goodbye.
“It was good.”
Click.
Even that guy, who seemed like he wouldn’t bleed a drop if stabbed, was still a father after all. It felt quite strange that he’d proposed the same hypothesis as him after seeing it just once.
It seemed he really should see Cheonghyeon’s face at least once. Where could he find an excuse to meet him?
<Cheongsan Water X Gi Cheonghyeon Cheongcheong Event! Drink Up, Meet Up!
Cheongsan Water Fan Signing Event with Gi Cheonghyeon – Lottery Event 02.21 ~ 03.09>
The moment the Cheongsan Water signing event notice popped up, Ihwa sighed. Here it comes.
Usually, these corporate fan signings were 100% luck. It was the only chance to meet Gi Cheonghyeon face-to-face, yet they were holding a lottery based on purchase receipts.
Unless you flooded the market with purchases, it was practically hopeless. No—even flooding the market couldn’t guarantee winning. It was a lottery, not a queue.
“Hey, Kwon Ihwa! Why the long face? Gi Cheonghyeon’s pretty popular these days.”
The person making such carefree remarks, oblivious to the urgency, was her senior from six years ago, who had attended East’s debut showcase with her. And he was also the only senior who knew she liked Cheonghyeon.
“He is popular, but now that he’s so famous, meeting him is like finding a needle in a haystack. You saw it too, right? The Cheongsan Water website crashed the moment the event was announced. I’ve already given up. I just have to pray fervently every night for a miracle bottle.”
Even at Ihwa’s sobs, the senior just chuckled.
What? That guy isn’t the type to let it slide. Shouldn’t he be challenging me to bet on whether we’d win with one bottle or not?
“I knew you’d react like that, so I prepared a surprise gift. Take a look at this.”
