— Kang Hajun, runner-up on K-Singer Star, already owns a large fan base thanks to solid vocal skills and a finished-idol visual, showing the qualities of the next rising star…

— Because he will debut with a track written by HS, known as the modern Midas of music, expectations for his future path are high…
Hyuna stopped scrolling and puffed her cheeks in a sulk.
“Really mean!”
The reason she stomped her feet in frustration was simple.
“He didn’t even tell me!”
The composer HS, who wrote and produced the debut song “Yunseul” in the article, was none other than her own brother. He obviously knew how much she liked Kang Hajun!
She was not even asking for an introduction.
To think we live under the same roof and he did not breathe a word about this…
At this moment, her brother felt terribly heartless.
Slurp, slurp.
She emptied her drink in one go, lips still sticking out. Feeling a bit calmer, she picked up her phone again.
“Instead of wasting time, I should be spreading my brother’s news.”
She had to post the article to every community faster than anyone else.
“Huh?”
While she was busily sharing Hajun’s article, her eyes stopped on another post.
Guys, if you want your faves to blow up, beg HS for a track.
Frowning at the title, she tapped to open it.
— I camped in front of LS HQ with gifts and letters begging HS to write a song for our Hajun. And look, right after the show ended he signed with LS and is debuting at lightning speed with an HS track ㅠㅠ. If you desperately want your idol to make it, maybe try asking him too! We could not afford fancy gifts but, contrary to rumors, HS might be an angel… anyway, bye~~ (For reference, fans pooled money for snacks and reasonably priced clothes!)

↳ What counts as “reasonably priced”? ㅠㅠ FiveSix is preparing a comeback, we are thinking of offering tribute but there is zero info on HS.
↳ Please let him give a song to The Moon ㅠㅠ they are charming and work so hard, why can’t they break through… maybe the group name is a curse.
↳ OMG, fellow AllNight here? We are already preparing tribute to HS for our Moonies! Come to the open-kakao chat, link below!
“These people!”
She wanted to comment, Is my brother a song-making machine? but doing so would expose her as HS’s fan and start a war, so she held back.
Suddenly she thought her brother must be really annoyed, being showered with requests not only from his own fans but also from other idols’ fandoms.
Now she could vaguely understand why he refused to show his face.
In that sense, she took back the resentment she felt earlier.
“Ugh, this is a pain.”
Hyunseung scowled at the boxes piled in one corner of his studio.
Half were gifts from his own fans, the rest held a different meaning.
Ever since some rumor spread among Kang Hajun’s supporters, tributes from various idol fandoms had been flooding in. Sorting them could take half a day.
“Sigh….”
Manager Kim clicked his tongue playfully.
“Why are you groaning in front of presents?”
“I am not sure these are really for me.”
“Oh, the idol fans still sending bribes for songs?”
“Yes, in wonderful variety.”
He waved a handful of letters and put them on the table.
“These are the most persistent. I cannot tell if they are letters or threats.”
Manager Kim picked up the neatly hand-written pages and shook his head.
“Dear respected HS, how are you? We spend every day happily thanks to your music… We beseech you to grant my group a song… enclosed is their entire history… praying for your household’s peace… — AllNight.”
Page after page, seven in all, began and ended with wishes for his household’s peace.
“At this point it’s a polite blackmail note.”
The courtesy was chilling in its persistence.
“Like saying, if you refuse, your household won’t stay peaceful.”
“Exactly, I had better watch my back at night.”
“Want security guards?”
“That would only confirm I am HS.”
Manager Kim laughed.
“And who are The Moon? Never heard of them.”
“Me neither.”
Not once in either life had he encountered that name; they must have faded away.
“These vegetables, too. Fans keep sending radishes. It’s heavy to carry.”
Actually, the mysterious fandom “God-s” had formed around a composer who never showed his face. After K-Singer Star his fan-club membership rivaled that of many singers.
His compilation of judge comments had passed ten million views. Radio and narration offers poured in. When luck is with you, everything clicks.
Manager Kim sighed, half amused.
“But really, might this blow up into trouble?”
“That is why my face must stay unknown.”
“The company will keep an eye on it. Stay safe.”
Hyunseung nodded. Opening another box he muttered,
“Tsk, if it were a Play-Station I might consider it….”
“What? So PS bribes work?”
“Kidding. I plan to lie low for a while.”
“You, lying low?”
“If possible, I would like that.”
It was a sincere wish, though reality kept getting noisier.
Director Choi took off his silver-rimmed glasses and rubbed the bridge of his nose in his office.
“Haah….”
After clearing the stack of files that needed approval, he finally had a brief moment of peace. He loved this time: crimson sunset beyond the blinds, traffic flowing, soft music from the speakers.
These days he had a particular favorite.
— I will listen to your story.
HS’s composition performed by new signee Yoon Jaeyi, “I wish time would stop.”
Even if it had belonged to another company he would have loved it the same. Today, exactly five days after the broadcast, the song hit number one on the charts.
The PR chief had come in earlier, glowing as if it were personal news. Kim, too, must be wearing that grin.
In the second half, I can promote him… Choi glanced at a promotion report.
Thanks to Hyunseung, Manager Kim had grown confident, Team 2 ranked first in yearly performance, family matters were resolved, and even trouble-making Director Park had calmed down.
The current peace is precious, and Hyunseung is essential to keep it.
Ding— a mail alert popped on his monitor: a new track, Kang Hajun’s debut “Yunseul.”
He smiled, hit play, and was whisked to a blazing summer beach.
Summer, indeed.
Another perfect seasonal song.
While he basked in the track, the chart refreshed:
- I wish time would stop – Yoon Jaeyi (feat. Moon Beom-jae)
- The Reason I Sing – Kang Hajun
- Dear my Beethoven – HS (feat. Moon Beom-jae)
- A Handful of Blossoms – Jung Arin
- Walk With Me – Seo Jini
Nearly every top song bore Hyunseung’s name.
T/N: 윤슬 yun-seul
A native Korean word that refers to the glittering, shivering pattern of sunlight (or moonlight) scattered across the surface of water. The term carries a quiet, poetic nuance: not just the light itself, but the feeling of watching countless points of light dance with each small wave.
