“…?”
When faced with something so absurd it defies all reason, the human mind tends to go on the run. That was precisely what was happening to Yeonwoo right now.
What did he just say to me…?
The plan to use a talisman on Kwon Sunghyun if he made a move vanished from Yeonwoo’s mind. Even the cautious tension sparked by the living spirit’s powerful aura scattered like smoke.
Is this some new way of messing with me?
He was still thinking that when Kwon Sunghyun struck again:
[You really are an angel, right?]
Another hit—and it was critical! Yeonwoo took major mental damage.
He’s attacking my weakest spot. He’s even better than I expected!
Maybe he was trying to distract Yeonwoo with mind games so he could slip away. Instead of fleeing outright, he was launching psychological warfare—exactly the kind of trick you might expect from someone at the apex of the merciless entertainment world. Truly no ordinary opponent.
Kang Yeonwoo, stay calm. Don’t get caught up in this.
Kwon Sunghyun’s skill at rattling his target’s focus was formidable, befitting that overwhelming presence. The difficulty of this mission—just grab him and go—was definitely going up.
Right as Yeonwoo was wrestling with that thought, the unpredictable situation transformed again. Kwon Sunghyun stepped forward, grabbed Yeonwoo’s hand before he could react, and—
[You… came for me, right, Angel? I’ve been waiting for you.]
Ding!
A familiar window appeared:

Automatically triggered by physical contact, the status window flashed into Yeonwoo’s vision. As he skimmed it, his mind froze for a moment.
Affection Level: Highest? Emotional State: Joy?
He was so taken aback, he hardly noticed the string of S-ranked specialties.
Wait, wasn’t the ‘Angel’ line just a trick to distract me?
He’d assumed all this angel talk was a ruse to warp his mind so Kwon Sunghyun could escape. After all, who in their right mind calls someone “Angel”? But then—
“Seriously, he’s the one who looks like an angel, not me.”
That realization came half a second late, hitting with a wave of visual shock. True, Yeonwoo wasn’t ugly—when he was little, people called him cute, and he’d never been belittled for his looks. Being Kang Yeonhwa’s son, it wasn’t possible for him to be unattractive. But even so, next to Kwon Sunghyun, all that was irrelevant.
[Angel?]
Yeonwoo fought down the goosebumps and replied:
“I’m not an angel.”
Correcting the record seemed important.
[But you’ve come to get me, haven’t you?]
“Yes, that’s true.”
[Then you must be an angel.]
Kwon Sunghyun broke into a wide smile. For the first time ever, Yeonwoo felt his mind go hazy from a man’s smile—an experience he could’ve done without.
Did this separation from his body damage his brain?
He definitely didn’t seem entirely coherent.
“Mr. Kwon Sunghyun, do you realize what’s going on here?”
[I’m dead, right? That’s why you—an angel—came to guide me, isn’t it?]
No wonder he’d been wandering around so freely, never even trying to return to his body. He actually believed he was dead.
[Thank you for coming to get me so kindly. I thought maybe a Grim Reaper would show up if I died, but no one came. It was a little lonely, but now I feel better since you’re here, Angel. Does that mean I’ll go to heaven now?]
“Actually… Mr. Kwon, you’re not dead.”
His body lay alive and well in the hospital.
[Not dead?]
“Correct.”
[But no one recognized me, and I can pass through walls and even fly… Doesn’t that mean I’m dead?]
“No. In more technical terms, you’re a ‘living spirit’. Your soul is temporarily out of your body. I heard you had an accident—probably got shocked out of your body. This happens sometimes.”
Hearing Yeonwoo’s explanation, Kwon Sunghyun’s face clouded over.
Of course he’s confused.
He’d believed he was dead, but now he was being told he wasn’t. Naturally, he looked stunned. Even that stunned face was as picturesque as a painting.
[Then… You’re not really an angel?]
That’s all you got out of it? Yeonwoo thought.
“No, I’m not.”he answered bluntly.
[But there’s such a bright glow around you, it’s hard to believe you’re not an angel.]
“Glow?”
[Yes. Golden waves, like a shimmering aura. It’s all around you.]
Yeonwoo glanced at himself. Nothing.
He’s not thinking straight.
He easily concluded that Kwon Sunghyun’s mind had taken a detour.
“Anyway, let’s get you back. You’ve been separated a while, and things aren’t great. See this thread?”
[Yes.]
“It connects you to your body. If it snaps, that’s when you really die. It’s already thinner than it should be, so we need to hurry.”
[So I’m actually not dead?]
“Correct.”
[Oh… I see.]
Kwon Sunghyun nodded.
[I guess I’m a bit disappointed, actually. It was kind of fun. Nobody recognized me, and that was a novelty.]
His voice was matter-of-fact, but there was a quiet heft to his words—a weariness from constantly living in the public eye. After a moment’s silent reflection, Kwon Sunghyun turned his calm gaze back to Yeonwoo.
[You said you’re not an angel, right?]
“Right.”
In what universe do I seem angelic? Yeonwoo wondered. But he decided not to ask—he didn’t want to risk an even more bizarre answer.
He’d never met someone so unpredictable.
Is this typical for actors?
But no—Jeong Chulwoo was easy to figure out. Must be that Kwon Sunghyun was special. He was a genius, after all, and geniuses are often eccentric.
Reassured by that logic, Yeonwoo remained calm. Kwon Sunghyun spoke up again:
[So if I died, I wouldn’t see you anymore?]
“Correct.”
[Only if I return to my body can I see you. Because you’re not an angel, but a living person on earth.]
“Yes, precisely.”
[Got it. Then I’ll head back.]
He nodded obediently, much to Yeonwoo’s relief. While he hadn’t seemed inclined to run off, Yeonwoo had no guarantee—a man this unpredictable could do anything.
He might not be fully sane, but once he’s back in his body, maybe he’ll revert to normal.
Even if he’d lost it briefly, reuniting with his body should restore his mind.
I can tolerate the angel routine until then. He might forget everything once he wakes up.
He was essentially in a dreamlike state—most dreams fade upon waking. True, there was a chance he’d remember, but…
He does have supernatural powers, so who knows. Either way, it’s not my problem after this. We live in separate worlds.
He’d endure it a little while. He had no idea that “a little while” would be anything but.
Kwon Sunghyun was like an obedient dog—no insult intended. He really was reminiscent of a friendly, loyal pup.
[Angel, could we look around just a bit more? The sunset from here is breathtaking.]
“No.”
[Oh… okay.]
At Yeonwoo’s immediate refusal, Kwon Sunghyun’s shoulders slumped. That was exactly why Yeonwoo likened him to a dog.
A top star is supposed to have a huge ego and be stubborn, right?
People who know they’re talented or in a high position usually carry themselves with pride. Kwon Sunghyun, however—celebrated as a genius—was oddly mild and accommodating. No signs of “flexing” or sulking. Even if Yeonwoo rebuffed him, he backed down politely, without snapping. Very strange, but not in a malicious way.
[Angel.]
“Not an angel. Enough already.”
Every time he heard that word, Yeonwoo’s skin crawled. Who calls someone over twenty “angel”? Reflexively, he rejected it.
[But still…]
In that moment, the child spirit spoke up again:
[But come on, is our Yeonwoo that awesome-looking?]
[Absolutely. I see a golden glow around him, like something in a myth or a religious painting.]
[You mean a halo?]
[Sort of. It’s not as blinding, so I can still see his face clearly.]
[I’d love to see that. Where exactly is Yeonwoo shining with gold? How can I see it too?]
[No idea. It’s always been there for me.]
When did those two become such chatterboxes with each other? Probably ever since Kwon Sunghyun agreed to return. Yeonwoo recalled the spectacle of that moment.
It was quite a show.
Once it became clear that Kwon Sunghyun saw the child spirit—his ultimate fan—the spirit nearly exploded with joy.
-Yeonwoo! He sees me! My favorite actor can actually see me!
-Do you normally see ghosts or anything?
-No, not really… I just see people’s auras, I guess?
Interestingly, he couldn’t see any other ghosts—only the child spirit—but this line of work is full of the bizarre, Yeonwoo thought. Even seeing auras is weird on its own. Anyway, once they started talking, the child spirit got to live out its dream of chatting with its “favorite actor.”
[But Yeonwoo’s no angel, that’s for sure—it’s hilarious calling him one!]
[I think he’s definitely angelic enough…]
[He’s more a devil…]
“You realize I can hear you calling me a devil, right?”
[Oh, shoot!]
Feigning shock, the child spirit whispered:
[See? He’s threatening us. How’s that angelic?]
[But if he doesn’t want me calling him ‘angel,’ what else am I supposed to say…?]
“…”
He felt like he’d wandered into an old historical drama, with lines about angels and devils thrown in.
Those two together are pure chaos.
Yeonwoo’s head ached slightly. Definitely a bad sign.
“Just use my name.”
[Really? That’s okay?]
Kwon Sunghyun’s face brightened with delight.
[Then… would you tell me your name?]
